The CUNZ has a four year mission project called Building Families for Life.

The project includes Church Health, facilitated by Rev Alan Vink, Family Health, facilitated by Barbara Hooker with extra resources becoming available for children's ministries with annual training by David Goodwin of Kidsreach Australia, and youth work facilitated by Herman Retzlaff.

WE believe that
healthy families lead to
healthy churches
which lead to
healthy communities
which lead to
a healthy nation
The BFL parenting course developed by Rev. Ian and Barbara Hooker is being used by the CUNZ Missions Committee.

At present the material has been translated into three pacific languages; Cook Island, Samoan, and the Niue language as well as Mandarin.

Teacher Training workshops have been taught in Samoa, in Nauru, Kiribati, Uniting Church PNG and Uniting Church Solomon Islands and a trip to Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China in October 2009 showed an ongoing need for BFL, ALPHA marriage etc. These workshops have proved most valuable as trained members have gone back to their own regions to teach the material to their communities and congregations. Huge interest has also been expressed by Community leaders searching for ways of making families stronger to resist the HIV and Aids scourge which is attacking some of these nations.

The BFL material has also been recorded into DVD format as teaching DVDs now available in English,Mandarin with Samoan about to be completed.

If you want to know more about this material, contact Ian and Barbara Hooker at Building Families for Life for more details.
